		Peak of Giewont The highest Polish peak is Mount Rysy. However, the most distinctive and beautiful peak is Giewont, which is known as the Sleeping Knight. On top of the mountain is a famous old cross that was erected by the Highlanders one hundred years ago. The cross reads: 'To Jesus Christ, from the Highlanders of Zakopane. 1900.'
